Plastering Powder

> Composition: Gypsum (calcium sulfate), sand, water-retaining agents, and other additives to control adhesion.

> Texture: Plastering powder normally appears to be coarse textured. It’s applied in a thicker layer for surface repair or structural support.

> Uses: Large areas of coverage for walls and ceilings. Surface repair and create decorative textures.

> Application: Plaster powder is applied in thicker layers than putty with a trowel. Achieve different surfaces, whether smooth or rough.

What's the difference in the Application of Putty in the Chinese and Indian Markets?

Wall putty is generally categorized into interior and exterior types. Each requires different formulas and additive ratios for optimal performance. Only the right proportions can ensure excellent construction results.


1. In China, testing usually occurs after 24 hours, once the cement has completely cured. However, in India, testing typically takes place after 3-4 hours.


2. Depending on the amount of cement and heavy calcium powder added, the water content ranges from 26% to 35%. If the water content exceeds 39%, it may indicate the use of dolomite powder instead of heavy calcium powder. Because it can absorb more water.


3. With testing occurring after 3-4 hours, it’s preferable for HEMC to have slightly lower water retention properties.

Why does gel appear in paste putty?

The gel can appear in paste putty if the HPMC is used. HPMC has an insufficient gel temperature compared to other cellulose ethers.


Paste putty contains film-forming materials. That includes water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol glue, VAE emulsion, or styrene-acrylic emulsion. Fillers like gray calcium powder and heavy calcium carbonate; water-retaining agents such as HPMC.


To avoid this gelling, we recommend using additives like HEMC, which have a better gel temperature effect.

POP and Putty Differences

Wall putty and Plaster of Paris (P.O.P.) serve construction and surface finishing purposes. Wall putty is a protective base for expensive paints, leveling wall surfaces and enhancing their smoothness. It is made from white powder or cement.


In contrast, Plaster of Paris is also known as P.O.P. It is a white powder for exterior surface finishing on walls and buildings. It adds a layer of refinement and aesthetic appeal to structures. Its application is distinct from wall putty, as P.O.P. focuses on the final appearance rather than the preparatory aspects.

How do you measure your HEMC? Do you have viscosity 200000 for tile adhesive?

To prevent wall putty chalking and peeling:


-Clean the surface thoroughly and repair any cracks or holes.

-Choose a high-quality putty suitable for your surface type.

-Apply a thin and even coat of putty, avoiding excessive pressure.

-Allow the putty to dry fully and sand it gently.

-Use a suitable primer before painting.

How long does wall putty take to dry?

The drying time for wall putty can differ depending on temperature, humidity, and the specific product used. Typically, wall putty may take from 24 to 48 hours to dry completely.

It’s advisable to follow the instructions for accurate drying times and ensure the surface is ready for subsequent finishing or painting.

Which is better, wall putty or pop?
Wall putty offers higher strength, compressive and tensile strength, and better binding properties. POP is eco-friendly and can act as an insulator, reducing indoor temperatures. Your choice should align with your specific interior design needs.
