C2TE vs C2TES1 Adhesive, what's the difference? Which one should I choose?

The differences between C2TE and C2TES1 tile adhesives are based on their specific properties:

 

– C2TE

This type of adhesive has improved slip resistance (indicated by “T”) and an extended open time (indicated by “E”). It can give you more time to adjust the tiles during installation.

 

– C2TES1

What is the difference between C1 and C2 adhesive?

The main difference between C1 and C2 tile adhesives is their application standards.

 

C1 tile adhesives meet basic requirements. C1 adhesive is for medium-sized tiles, usually around 40 cm. It’s an excellent choice for interior tiling projects with non-demanding requirements. It is suitable for general tile installations on stable substrates.

 

C2 tile adhesive falls into the advanced category and is meant for larger tiles, usually 60×60 or more. C2 adhesives offer superior adhesion and flexibility for the task. They are designed for more challenging tile adhesive applications. For example, the large format tiles, exterior installations, and substrates with higher stress.

Does extreme climate affect tile adhesion?

Extreme climate temperatures range from exceeding 40 degrees Celsius to freezing winters dropping below -50 degrees. This situation can impact tile adhesion. After the tile adhesive mortar cures for 30-90 days, its bond remains unaffected by climate change.

 

However, it is advisable to consider seasonal variations. We recommend using the C2E formula for a more extended opening and setting time in summer. Conversely, it has a slower curing process in winter in colder temperatures. So, we recommend the C1 tile adhesive formula with a shorter opening time.
